Shoulders

A shoulder treatment is an ideal introduction to Shiatsu. It can be carried out anywhere that there is a chair or floor space to sit on, and can be very quick or relatively thorough. Treating the shoulders can bring impressive effects in a short time. If you choose to give a sitting-position Shiatsu, you can extend the shoulder treatment by working on the upper back and on the neck and head, adapting the techniques from the relevant lessons. A shoulder mini-treatment is particularly appropriate for any tension in the upper body or for headaches.

Back and shoulders

The back is a primary candidate for treatment when time is limited, containing as it does treatment points for all the major organs. It is also an area where many people experience problems. As well as following lesson 2, you could add an adapted shoulder massage by working from alongside the back, and shoulder point work by sitting above your partner's head while they are lying face-down.
